Sparkly Day
After morning Church we went to Burnsall for a picnic. The initial plan of L et moi, taking MinL gradually expanded with the addition of Benji and his girlie Rachael, and the Sheffield branch of the family. We had fine food, enjoyed the sun, Daisy and Sam played football, Lily the queen of feist ran Daisy ragged, Benji boy had an early birthday cake, Jon wore his sons underwear juantily, and the Morris dancers Morris danced.
I'm not sure what all the Morris dancing thing is about, I've always thought it was some fertility ritual, but no mention of that on wiki. My observation was that they had a lot of fun, drank a fair few draughts of ale, and the men were very hairy and it felt a sunny English thing to do and not as foreboding as the description in Hardy's Tess of the Derbevilles when things progressed from bleak to bleaker afterwards.
Todays blip is a merry Morris Man on what has turned out to be a sparkly family day.
