Set off from Edinburgh about 9. Grey and drizzling. Had two longish stops on the way, partly for D to participate in a couple of online meetings. We were very surprised to see VW and her friend A at the first stop. Really good to see her again- albeit briefly.

Arrived in Helmsdale around 6 after a stop inTain to visit J and As cottage. It seemedto be a lovely town with lots of oldstone buildings( including the walls around the cottage). Nice to look around and hear about their plans for the house and garden.
Dropped off our bags in the hotel and went next door to an eccentric restaurant. Lots of bizarre furnishings including this lamp. Had a huge plate if delicious fish and chips and then chatted to a dutch couple over coffee in the hotel ( with a real fire). Was ill during the night- maybe the fish and chips??
