Got to sleep about 5pm and skipped breakfast. Walked outside to a beautiful spring morning in Helmsdale - lots of gorse all around. Stopped at steps but I decided to stay in the car. Stopped again at Thurso for coffee ( water for me) . Uneventful ferry crossing fromScabster to Stromness . Was about a 40 minute drive to the cottage. Stunning location right next to the sea , well equipped apart from the heating system which is inadequate without extra convector heaters, one of which is broken!
Decided not to go out for dinner, and scrambled eggs and watched some tv and looked at guidebooks etc. I couldn’t really get warm so went to bed very early
