Three Score Years & Ten

I hadn’t expected to wake up in East Wittering on my 70th Birthday but on a clear and sunny morning, (always good weather after camps finished!), this is where I found myself.

Mark seemed to be in less pain although still uncomfortable.
Clare drove and we headed off to Marks doctors and pharmacy as a first stop to book in a dressing change and stock up on paracetamol.
Breakfast at Wittering Surf was really good, probably more so in that I didn’t have to cook it. Some shopping to stock Mark for a week or so and we headed back to Marks for a farewell coffee.
Meanwhile my mobile had been ‘pinging’ and vibrating as Birthday Good Wishes arrived from family and friends.

With Mrs S driving we set off for Cornwall and home, the weather and driving conditions alternated between torrential rain with poor visibility and bright clear sunshine.
One stop for possibly the worlds most expensive toastie and we arrived home. I can through the door to a super excited Paddy, a smiling Sam with a mug of coffee and a home baked chocolate Birthday Cake complete with candles, a really lovely surprise.
After emptying the van of the first load I opened my cards, the most I’ve had for a while and we settled down for coffee and cake.
It’s been a birthday to remember for a variety of reasons and over the next day or two I’ll take stock and reply to people.

In the meantime I have tomorrow night to look forward to.

Todays photo, re-thatching in East Wittering and the extra is blowing out the candles.
