The Falkirk Wheel
Marian has wanted to see this wonderful feat of engineering for a long time so with Frances at work we took the opportunity to take a trip there this morning. It's been a lovely sunny day but it's a bit chilly. As we arrived the wheel started to turn and brought down two boats. One was the regular trip boat plus a narrow boat travelling through. You can see that coming out in the first extra.
This afternoon Marian was with Frances so I decided to go to Cramond beach. If you don't know it there's a causeway that goes out to Cramond Island. Unusually, it has a line of concrete pylons erected during the second World War as a boat boom. They're very photogenic particularly when the tide covers most of them. The tide was low so it was clear to walk across. Near the middle I walked off the causeway and through the barrier to take a photograph. I thought the pool of water added to the composition and you can see that as the second extra.
