A happy discovery

Being a member of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, I receive newsletters, emails and updates, as well as going regularly in search of kingfishers at the Wolseley Centre. I’d read about the new reserve they are developing, to encourage bitterns to nest.

I knew roughly where it was, behind the new industrial developments in Burton on Trent, but I’d no idea how to get there.

I went out for lunch with my niece and her son atThe Swan in Walton on Trent (it’s lovely incidentally) and just before the nightmare rickety bridge, I spotted the sign.

Yes. Tucklesholme Nature Reserve is on your left, clearly marked and with parking.

I was relatively early so I wandered a little to investigate. There was a fascinating grebe and friendly people. I’ll definitely be going back.

I’ve put the main poster as an extra in case anyone else fancies exploring.
