Had a mostly lovely birthday. Upholstery in the morning. Finished my stool, and Ji had made carrot cake and bought me a plant - very unexpected but nice. After opening presents and replying to texts i went into town for an appointment at Barclays to open an ISA. It had to be done f2f but was the best interest rate by quite a long way(according to mse). They were 10 mins late(no acknowledgment), she checked what I wanted to do and said I should have done ID checks via the app( I wasnt told that when I booked the appointment). So i had to sit in the booth and go through all of that…. She did try to help, but in a rather patronising way. I eventually got it sorted but she then had to leave for a meeting. Fortunately her colleague came in immediately. She then asked me what product I wanted, and then told me that that interest rate hadbeen withdrawn and offered me 1.1% less! Apparently they had been notified late last week (booked the appointment on Friday lunchtime). I expressed my frustration (politely) and left.
Got home and opened one online with Virgin- took me 12 minutes and only .1% less than i was expecting from Barclays.
Went round to Js in the evening. He cooked me a very nice supper snd birthday cake which tasted good but not photogenic as it had stuck to the bottom of the tin!
Note for me - Dad tripped over the door step on Sunday and fell into the kitchen (but is OK). I picked my hearing aids up yesterday
