Perfect light

A beautiful day. We seem to have missed out on the snow - for the moment - and, although it has been cold, we have had sunshine all day.

On a roll with all this clearing and sorting, we spent the morning tackling 'under the stairs', you know the kind of cubby hole where everything gets put that doesn't have anywhere else to go. We got everything out, cleaned it all down and then sorted and put things back. It looks good and we have a box of stuff to get rid of. Well pleased with ourselves!

Then I decided to get some reading done. I was outside for a while, but the chill wind drove me into the conservatory, where it was wonderful. The door open to listen to the birds and the sun shining in - perfect light for reading. Look at that blue sky!

I was reading Scary Monsters by Michelle de Kretser. A strange book in two halves - not sure what I think about it yet.

Now I am eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Longlist for the Women's Prize for Fiction - always an exciting moment.
