GRANNY’S POOL

Chapter 1-Page5
Well it had to be documented!!  My first swim in the Southern Ocean at Augusta and it was in the incredibly pristine and crystal clear Granny’s Pool at Flinders Bay.  Having nearly drowned when I was a little girl at City Beach in Perth I have always had a fear of the water.  HOWEVER, there is no way anyone, even with the worst fear of the water could resist going for a swim in this wonderful place.  It was absolutely exhilarating and I’m hoping it will be a daily routine all year round.  I’ve even started looking for a wet suit that will allow me to brave the water during the depth of winter.

This afternoon Mauzee and I had a wonderful catch up with two of my Mum and Dad’s oldest friends in Augusta.  Eric and Appie have so many great stories to tell and it was a trip down memory lane for all of us.  They’re a lot frailer now and Appie is in the home in Augusta that looks after the older residents in a very warm and caring way.  It was good to see that they both still have a sparkle in their eyes and they’re 95 and (Nearly) 99 respectively.  I also bumped into an old friend of Mum and Dad’s at Flinders this morning and it so heartening to know that they are both remembered with such great affection.
