Timing ......
Things didn't go entirely to plan today. After a leisurely morning we headed over to the theatre, arriving at 11.45 for a 12.00 talk on the Picts. I was surprised how quiet it was and then I checked our tickets. We were 45 minutes late rather than 15 minutes early. I had put the wrong time in my diary. I also realized through a conversation from another volunteer at the Bookshop I had also put the wrong time in for my shift later than afternoon.
I generally find this upsetting - I know it is something that I can easily do, partly because of my dyslexia and I generally double check and triple check but in this instance to no avail. I once booked returned flights from a trip to Paris for a month later - 16th of March instead of 16th Feb* !
Anyhow I explained to the box office what had happened and asked if I could swap them for the 12.30 talk on west coast island where early monasteries had been established. They kindly did so and we enjoyed the talk.
I then had a sandwich before doing my stint on the bookstall. The theatre has looked after us well - we were provided with lanyards and teas and coffees. The publishers book stall was packing up and those of us at the stall were given a copy of the Hebridean Diary as there were some left unsold. I was especially happy as I hadn't bought one this year, unlike previous years, but was thinking I should (re)start a daily Gaelic Diary.
After my stint I meet up with T (who'd been home in the meantime) and we headed into see Ricky Ross being interviewed which we both really enjoyed.
It has been an interesting few days with much to think about.
* I'd got the tickets with airmiles and thankfully had enough left to but new tickets. I was then able to get the original airmiles recredited so it all ended well.
