Encinitas subdivision

The low evening sun warms the colours of the walls of a couple of the many rather fine houses in the neighbourhoods around where we’re staying.

I thought you’d like to see something of the area other than photos of family and coast. Where were staying is in the valley of Scott’s Creek meaning that the are steep ascents north and south to push Madison or to run up.

These houses are typical of all the property around here. Large, spacious and well maintained , many with gorgeous views south and north. The sidewalks are broad and smooth and nobody parks on them as their driveways are large and roads so wide. It was a pleasure to meander up here this afternoon with Madison fast asleep for the whole 4 miles. It was much harder running here this morning.

We cooked Shepherd’s Pie for the family tonight which was very much appreciated. We had to go shopping for the ingredients which necessitated a stop for coffee first. The cost of food in California is really high compared to the UK, probably at least double.

Madison had to creep in somewhere. She’s in the extras giving Grandad her best smile ever. She’s found her mouth with her thumb and held a rattle in her hand for the first time. She was a very contented baby today.

Landon, on the other hand, was poorly. He’d been sick yesterday and was running a fever today. He looked really washed out and listless so spending time with him as we planned to do had to be postponed. All being well, he’ll have recovered enough so that we can see him tomorrow and he can come to his cousin’s 4th birthday party tomorrow afternoon.
