The doors to Academia

The opera, Carmen, is set here.

We started our first day in Seville with a guided walking tour in the morning, which was a good way to see some of the sights, all of which are just round the corner from our apartment.

Later in the afternoon we visited the local post office to send something to my brother-in-law in Barcelona; it seemed easier than trying to do it from the UK at the moment! The post office was very grand, didn’t seem very busy, but the ticket machine to give a number for the counter queue jammed, so we just queued anyway and then nearly created a diplomatic incident when trying to be served! There were only about 4 folk waiting for service, but each transaction took for ever.  Spanish bureaucracy went into overdrive. When we asked for a printed receipt for our package it came out in triplicate from a printer behind the teller. We escaped after about half an hour, feeling totally shattered, but at least we’ve posted the calendar before the year is out!

Some more pictures of today in the extras.
