More Hope Than Expectation
After another lovely day, which provided the opportunity to get a number of chores done around the garden, I decided to head out to The Point to see if I could blip a sunset. There were a few clouds about so I was hopeful that some colours might develop.
Being on the east coast of Kintyre and close to 1000 foot high hills, there are a very limited number of places where you can get a decent sunset. The Point is one of them and is about a mile away from the hills and has Carradale Bay in between to provide some helpful reflections. It takes about 20 minutes to walk out but is worth the effort for the view and peace and quiet. Quiet that is if you ignore the screaming Oyster Catchers who seemed to be telling me I was too close to their nest. Then there was the herd of feral goats who scampered off when I appeared behind them. Quite a few kids and the herd has certainly grown since last year.
I found the spot I was after which looks over The Bay to the caravan site and Waterfoot. First time I have used a tripod for a sunset and spent ages playing about with the different settings. Unfortunately the colours never really materialise as I had hoped, although some quite dramatic clouds moved in from the east. When a tinge of colour did appear I had to go portrait to get the clouds and reflections in the shot. I actually quite like it although its not the shot I expected to go with!
