Sadly we had to leave South Georgia a day earlier than planned due to an incoming storm system, so we began three days at sea - one day longer than normal as the ship had to take a massive detour north to avoid the worst of it. Nevertheless, it was a pretty bumpy ride on the avoidance route!

Whale blows spotted, lots of birds, talks on the Falklands (next destination), history of the whaling industry and its devastating effects on the populations and a couple of citizen science events (cloud monitoring, seaweed spotting & bird count).

All through South Georgia, the bar offered bottles of Shackleton Whisky for $130 - however, the bar was free and you can get that in supermarkets here for £20!!
