Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Denise came to take Archie out today. As they were going out of the gate, a couple of people and a dog happened to come along, so Archie went crazy. I saw it was a wee schnauzer, asked if it was a female (yes) so we all went out to meet each other. She (Molly) was very sweet, and the dogs got on fine, of course. Denise and I had a chat with the owners, retired folk who happened to come this way for a change. They have two young Ukrainian women staying with them, one is a medic, but can’t continue here with her study. They’re having a very positive experience with the refugees, which is not always reported.

When JR came back from the gym, I went along for my session, and worked up a bit of a sweat. It’s a killer, that treadmill.

JR went into town in the afternoon. I watched a bit of that Netflix tennis thing ‘Break Point’, but mainly dozed off. It’s amazing how much I can sleep. In one of my awake periods, I happened to catch a trailer about pirates, and noticed that it featured my favourite comedian Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) and also spotted Taika Waititi, the Kiwi director (the brilliant JoJo Rabbit). The title suggested it would be fun. ‘Our Flag Means Death’… and it is. It’s on iPlayer.

I didn’t take a photo today, so this is one from a couple of days ago.
