Diary of an Edinburgher

DAY SIXTEEN (Sydney)

Gill off to work (she owns the business with her cousin). JR off to the gym. JR and I then walked down to Charlotte's Cafe. I've been tempted every morning to have pancakes, but I've resisted. Until this morning... my goodness - what an epic plateful. Actually, it proved too much for me, but JR (after eating three poached ages on toast) helped me finish.

We then took a walk down to the Dawn Fraser swimming baths. It wasn't too far, but it was a steep walk down, a lovely stroll along the waterfront, but then a punishing walk back up lots and lots of steps, with lots and lots of stops (to admire the view of the harbour).

The seawater baths are a super set up - lots of seating, changing rooms, shaded bits and a shop for cold drinks etc. Had we brought our togs, we may have been tempted in...

In the afternoon we went into town to see the first day of the Banksy Exhibition. Easy trip on the bus there and back. The exhibition was fantastic. Very crowded in places, but an amazing bank (no pun intended) of work from this important contemporary artist. Great to see all his famous ones, but he also had videos - one impressive one in a completely mirrored room. (Check out the website).

Leaving Sydney tomorrow, sadly - we've had the most amazing time. But hello Adelaide. I've never been there, but JR lived there in the early 70s. And we have a couple of old pals there, as does Gill.

PS We finished off the day with the last episode of the epic ‘Muster Dogs’. What a treat!

7,519 steps.
