Told You

Social Media platforms with Royal Navy Veteran pages have been deluged with criticism of last nights first episode of the series on the HMS Queen Elizabeth deployment.
The chorus of it was “better in my day” comments is deafening.
I have no doubt that the series “Sailor”, when it was shown in the 1970’s, drew as many unfavourable comments only without social media they would have been into the complainers beer rather than for the world to read and comment on.
Times change, life moves on, as my Dad would have said; “don’t worry about things you have no control over”.

Housework day, as I finished Mrs S arrived home unexpectedly taking advantage of her “Recognition Day”.
We did a quick garden waste tip run followed by a Starbucks visit. Home, Paddy walked and then it was time for my first meeting of the week, Falmouth Rugby Club.

The rugby side is in disarray with divisions between the senior teams/players, the 1st XV without a win and individual age groups missing from the procession plan. However that situation is marginally better than the remainder of the club. The economy has hit a downturn, prices are up, utilities up, spending power amongst supporters and players down and as a consequence the club is heading towards operating at a loss.
150 going ahead though, it will be interesting to see how the costs for that are explained against the projected loss.

Still, there are bright spots on my walks, these buds are in a garden hedge around four doors along.
