Nineteen come along at once

After a longish period stuck at home, we finally got out to do our Wetlands Bird Survey today. Conditions were perfect and the fine sunrise and calm water made for a great start. About half an hour into our walk, no fewer than 19 Whooper Swans dropped onto the reservoir. It was a wonderful sight! There were good numbers of all kinds of birds, including Treecreeper and Great Crested Grebe to add to my Year List. Sadly, there was a dead Greylag Goose on the edge, which may have succumbed to avian flu.
The amazing early light and a male Mandarin are in extras
