"food, glorious food!"

So a mistimed departure from the hotel left us late for meeting my friend Julian at Madame Tussaud's for the day! Oops! Ah well, guys are supposed to be kept waiting!

When we eventually got there he told us that there was a 3hr queue to get in so armed with Bassett cherry drop sweets, we re-routed ourselves across London and after an initial walk past Kensington Palace, we decided to be all cultural for the day and go to the British Museum! A quick stop for a proper pub grub lunch was not enough however to hold our attention in the museum as we found ourselves being easily distracted and getting slightly confused by the map of the building so in the end a coffee in the sunshine won the day and we ended up sat outside the museum for nearly 2hrs enjoying the London sun and catching up with our lives since we'd last seen each other in the summer.

But the best bit of the day was yet to come! At 8.15pm Jayney and I fulfilled one of our dreams - eating at a celeb chef restaurant! We chose the reasonably priced 'Odettes' in Primrose Hill, owned by celeb chef Bryn Williams, who is also the Head Chef! The cute little restaurant had a lovely atmosphere when we walked in and staff who didn't annoy you but who you knew were right there if you needed them.

Starters of Crayfish lasagne for Jayney and roast wood pigeon for me were followed by cod and welsh lamb for our main courses. It was an amazing experience to eat food that had been cooked to perfection with flavour combinations you would only dream about!

Dessert was the toughest choice of the night but eventually we both decided on 'Odettes jaffa cake' on the assumption that it would be one of Bryn's own creations.....and for someone like me who loves her desserts and sweet food, this dessert was in a league of its own! Words fail me when I try to describe how good it was!! Everyone should just go and try it for themselves! :)

A few glasses of Procescco and a cocktail later, it was time for our dream to end, but not before we met the man himself at the door on the way out, thanking him for the amazing meal! However, underneath the calm and mature exterior, we were both like jumping jacks on the inside, having to fight back the need to get a photograph with him and/or his autograph! Sometimes we can both be quite sad individuals! hahaha!

What a night! What a fine dining, food experience!
