cupcakes and jellytots

"old friends..."

So after the excitement of yesterday, we took a well needed lie-in this morning before strolling through the sun soaked London streets to the Tower of London - somewhere Jayney had wanted to visit. However, I don't think it properly hit either of us just how much there was to see and do at the Tower until we were there! We suddenly regretted that lie-in!

We decided to make sure we'd seen the main things on this visit and that we'd come back again for a proper walk around next year. Cue a walk along the tower walls, photograph opportunity overlooking Tower Bridge, a quick hello to the Ravens and an inspection of the Crown Jewels! And what jewels they were! The St Edward Crown sat there in all its glittering glory, surrounded by more gold items than I could ever imagine! But the star of the display for both of us was the crown of the Queen Mother - so simple and dainty for something so heavily covered with diamonds!

A station closure meant we had to re-route ourselves across London to get back to Trafalgar Square to meet the lovely Julian! As friends from uni, I always make an effort to see him when I'm in London. A London cafe cuppa in The Breadline was followed by a quick change before the 3 of us settled in for pre-dinner cocktails!

We went to Brasserie Joel at Park Plaza for dinner - something a bit special. The chocolate fondant was absolutely amazing! Highly recommended!! :)

And then more cocktails and giggles before we called it a night!

Lovely to see you again Julian! This time again next year?! :)
