The Great Big Blue!
Another blip of Miranda today. I realised that the majority of the pictures I snap are of her facing to the right of frame so decided to change it round. The big silver disks on the wheels are Shimano internal hub brakes. Although not the most powerful brakes in the world, they are ideal for a bike like Miranda as they are not affected in any way, shape or form by the weather which living and riding in Scotland is a daily issue. A thing that I do keep forgetting though is that the front brake is on the left hand lever and not on the right which would be usual for a bike bought in the UK. As she originated in the Netherlands and being a thoroughbred Dutch girl, she has her brakes in the European style - left hand front and right hand back. I could quite easily change the cables over but I don't think that would be in keeping with her unique style and sensibility. I did make one concession away from her European pedigree and got the Dunlop valves swapped to Schrader valves when I ordered her. My track pump only does Schrader and Presta and didn't fancy buying yet another pump.
Back on the exercise train big style this morning after my week of rest and relaxation. The Tuesday Body Step class has been moved to a new start time of 0615 which meant meeting up with my running friend at 0500. This in turn meant a 0350 rise to get up and walk the dog and get some breakfast down before heading up to the gym. Highlight of the morning was that the instructor mixed in Skater boy from a previous release which has some really amazing choreography. Really enjoyed being back out running again and seems that my trying to open the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs with my knee while on holiday has had no real lasting effect. I thought that I may have broken something but thankfully not!
