Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Fix it day!

Today I had a dental check up, a gentle one as I'm having some extensive (and expensive) work done soon and we didn't want to upset anything prior to that. All is well though.
Our dentist is at Meadowbank which is not at all convenient, but it's a large NHS practice and they are very good at emergency appointments which is worth a lot these days, so we put up with the travelling.
This lovely old Morris was parked in the car park of the adjacent retail park. It made me think just how much cars have changed in my lifetime. These and other Morris Minor type cars were still pretty common, if quirky when I was at college in the '70s.
I was sad to hear recently that not only is the M&S outlet here closing soon, but TKMaxx is to close next month too. I'm wondering what the future of the site is and whether perhaps it's designated for housing. It will be a big loss if that's the case, it's a long way to other shops.
Next stop was our garage where my car was going for a couple of hopefully minor investigations! I was surprised and somewhat sad to hear it's been sold however its new owner is one of the previous employees so hopefully things won't change too much. This is it's third owner since we first started to use it in 1983.we're loyal customers.
We had bridge this evening, not our worst, but not our best either.
Katy and the girls are staying over tonight as Jon is on nights and she's on call. We've got the girls tomorrow in any case due to the school closures so this seemed the easiest option. Means I don't need to stay over at their house then leave early so that Jon can sleep.
