Merry Christmas, Again

After yesterday’s busyness, I slept in. It seems my son is down with an undiagnosed illness so our DIL has the brunt of the work caring for three sick people now. We offered to give her a hand with whatever she needs. Since we were finally home with no commitments today, we opened our gifts to one another and from our German friends. Blanche helped hubby especially with her stocking. We actually found “all turkey” kitty treats. Millie was still snuggled in our bed so she missed the excitement. My favorite gift was this camper snow globe. Hubby always gives Brooklyn, his God child, a snow globe. I found some at Home Goods where 50% of the price goes to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital so I encouraged him to shop there. He knows that is a favorite charity of mine and I was thrilled to find a snow globe among my gifts. Kristen invited us to dinner and to get the thank you gifts for taking care of the mutts. The sunset sky was brilliant as we left our neighborhood. We wanted to be there when they opened their stocking trinkets from us (mostly toiletries, cooking items and other practical things). It was a fun evening listening to their cruise/New Orleans adventures and see them enjoy unwrapping their treasures. In each case, the “gifts” were not the focus. Hubby and I knew almost everything in our packages. What was important was the quality time together, a rarity these days. And Kristen’s pasta and salad meal was delicious as usual. They were happy to be home and so were we. Hoping you had a rewarding day too. Thanks for your visit. We have been alerted that COVID, flu and RSV cases are making a sharp rise in our area. Be safe when around crowds. “Christmas means fellowship, feasting, giving and receiving, a time of good cheer, home.” — WJ Tucker
