Reflections

The first day of 2023 arrived unseasonably warm and sunny. The pups and I took a few trips outside to enjoy it. I guess it is normal to spend New Year’s Day reflecting on life. They say you can tell a lot about a person by their home. As I looked around Kristen’s home, it is obvious it reflects her priorities in life: faith, family and fun which are quite similar to my own. Her personality is much more bubbly than mine, you rarely see her not smiling or giggling. Her joy rubs off on those she is with. Take the signs in her main level bath: top row of my collage. If you look closely, you will see a nickel taped to the first sign. Last time my mother was here, she asked Mack for tape. The next day, they understood why. Now they will always think of her when they see that sign. I am way too reserved to have put up her other bath note. But in every room, there is evidence of her love of faith and family. I am pleased. I spoke with Kim today. Her family had a wonderful evening. They build gingerbread houses with their best friends and all get together to explode them on 31 December each year. Family togetherness and traditions are very important to her. Jamie and his family spent part of winter break having fun at a local waterfront resort. Then he and Parker took a day to work on a big project, again family togetherness. As they say about the apple not falling far from the tree, thankfully my children are family oriented. However, I wish I’d done a better job in some other areas. So, that’s how I spent my New Year’s Day: reflecting on the good, the bad and the ugly in life and vowing to increase the good in 2023 by decreasing the bad and ugly. I will start with letting some of Kristen’s whimsy rub off on me. Hoping you had a wonderful weekend. All evidence from yesterday’s Kleenex disaster is gone.
