New Year’s Day

The title of my latest bedtime reading.

A quiet day and New Year’s Eve. With Andy being unwell from the cold virus which is doing the rounds, we settled for an early evening film - Bohemian Rhapsody, and then bed. We woke briefly just before midnight expecting to hear lots of fireworks but it was remarkably quiet out as we passed into the new year.

After a lazy breakfast, whilst Andy rested at home, Merlin and I had a long walk around the village and across the water logged meadow. Later I spent a few satisfying hours at the allotment tidying and putting down more manure.

Loving having this time to be slow, to walk with Merlin and be active in the fresh air. Having a dog to walk and an the allotment feel such a joy and essential part of my wellbeing, especially at this time of year when even on dull damp days, they give a sense of purpose, invigoration, and satisfaction.

Hoping your day has been kind to you. My best wishes for a peaceful and joyful 2023.
