Welcoming in a new year

Andy is busy preparing dinner, our Saturday evening Indian. I’m eagerly awaiting the products of his culinary efforts.

We had a quiet evening last night, staying up until we heard the church bells ringing just before midnight; then they were drowned out by the sound of fireworks, lots of them. Luckily Merlin wasn’t bothered by the bangs and he had a good night of sleep and woke us, as usual, at 6:30am, ready to start the day with gusto.

The highlight of the day has been walking by the sea at Emsworth again, arriving to the sound of shrieks as a group of young people entered the sea for a New Year’s Day dip.

The rest of the day has been less thrilling - cleaning the kitchen which as our main living room gets very dirty at this time of year, thanks to Merlin. Then another wade around the muddy dog walking field.

Hoping your first day of 2022 has been a good one.
