SATIPS Ski Challenge

This photo is one for the journal to record today's events. My youngest son's school entered two ski teams to compete in the annual SATIPS Ski Challenge which was held at the indoor ski centre at Hemel Hempstead.

I had never been there before and was rather impressed with the facilities. There were four ski slopes running alongside each other, one of which was being used for the competition - the others were being used by people who were having lessons or just practicing their skiing. The temperature in the snow dome is about -4C, but there is a café with large glass windows above the slopes where you can watch the activities at a comfortable room temperature. There is also a balcony area if you wish to watch the skiers from within the snow dome (and get very cold).

Our U11 team won, and when I left our U14 team still had one skier to complete his run. I left as soon as Thomas had done his runs as he had to get back to school for a French exam! It was a rather exciting morning.
