Get On The Floor

It is, perhaps, inevitable that if you give guitarists - and impressionable bass players - wireless connectivity for their instruments, they will, at some point, find their way off the stage and onto the dance floor for some posturing of the highest order!
Last night was a first for the band - a gig in my home town of Kendal, rather than around Barrow, where we normally play. A good set up at Ruskins though. A decent size stage and a great sounding PA. The only thing missing as we started our first set at nine o’clock was any sort of a crowd. We were a bit worried that a combination of a cold Boxing Day night and an unknown band from Barrow, might have put people off. However, one of my friends who had come to see us said that the venue never really got busy until after 10pm. And thus it proved to be. By the time we all leapt off the stage for an extended “Summer of 69” outro jam, the place was packed. We carried on playing until well after midnight and had a great night. Hopefully, we will get some more gigs at this venue later in the year.
Mind you, I’m paying for that late finish today. The cold I thought I was getting over has returned with a vengeance and I’ve spent most of the day sneezing, coughing and sleeping. I need to knock this on the head now as we’ve got two more gigs this week, including New Years Eve. Time for another Lemsip…
