cherry blossoms

My husband planted a cherry tree in our back yard 6 or 7 years ago, as he thought it would be nice to just walk outside & pick some cherries off of it. I'm thinking there's more to it than just planting, since we've gotten only 1 cherry in all these years & it wasn't edible. It's awfully pretty when it blooms, though!
