Flea / Jewel

Flea is becoming a dignified old lady, which is fine, but she's also losing weight, which is not. I was a bit worried about her appetite and maybe her teeth until she woke me up in the middle of the night a couple of months ago to watch her eating a mouse she'd caught. Still, something's not right.

So, today, the Minx and I took her to the vets'.

Flea doesn't like cat baskets, so she travelled on the Minx's lap, which they both thoroughly enjoyed, and Flea's keen interest in what was going past outside reassured me about her eyesight.

At the vets' she was well-behaved, even while they took a little bit of blood. And to cut a long story short, it looks like she has a little bit of kidney failure but it looks as though that can be managed. Phew!

This evening, we went over to Bowness for dinner with the 'Sovereign Club', a fundraising event for Notorious Homophobe* Tim Farron, with, on this occasion, Vince Cable as guest speaker. I was delighted to find, unexpectedly, a couple of friends there, and actually, we had a surprisingly evening**.

*He isn't, though.
**We will gloss over my question to Vince regarding the crisis in education and his response: "It is a priority".
