puffy puffin
after a fish tea last night we headed back along to Bamburgh just before sunset to try some night shots. the tide was out so we couldn't get the iconic shot with the bay in front, and there were bright lights on the castle but I am very pleased with this, and got some experience with different shutter speeds etc.
this morning it was raining! after a very good breakfast we set off for a 10am boat trip to the Farne Islands, but there was no sailing on the trip that lands on one of the islands, so we booked for noon and went for a drive down the coast to Craster and took a walk to Dunstanburgh castle. The light was very flat and the photos are uninteresting. We did however check out the menu of the Jolly Fisherman and have decided to head back there for dinner!
It drizzled throughout the boat trip but I didn't care as I saw my first ever puffin!! We landed on Inner Farne island and had an hour to walk around and see/photograph the birds. It was cold and damp, but amazing!! Puffins, shags, terns, razorbills, cormorants, gulls - it was hard to choose a shot to blip today. We took lots of shots of amorous shags and Anne has just chosen her shag so check hers out too.
Mine had to be this cute puffin! sorry about the rain spots!
Still very dull and flat, so will probably just head back to Craser for a good pub dinner.
It is John's birthday today and he is in Castle Douglas enjoying a vintage motor bike weekend, so happy birthday John!!!
We plan to go back to Holy Island before heading home tomorrow. Hope the sun shines.
have a great Sunday one and all!
