Heading for the hills

Another slippy walk - it was minus 2 when we left home at 10.15, heading for the Cup and Ring marks near Simonside. We forgot to hunt out our ‘clicks-clacks’ as the children called the ice grippers that fit to the bottom of our boots so it was slow in places. We did have our walking poles though which helped. It was only 5 miles but at least it saved us 2.5 hours of heating costs.

We really enjoyed the football last night - especially the Croatia win. We’ll watch England v France tonight. I suppose I’d better support England. I don’t fancy their chances if it comes to penalty shootouts.

My cousin Duncan messaged me to say he’d joined something for the first time in his life and guess what it was. I said (knowing his far-right views) I hoped it was a fishing club. It’s ReformUKScotland. I despair. I told him not to forget I’m off to the Voodoo festival in January.

Thomas’s friends joined him for his birthday sleepover. His dad did the full Ian Paisley at 4am when they were messing about in the kitchen making waffles.
