I had joked with my colleagues that I’d like a dog now I’m working from home but lack the ability to commit. Quite amusing to have got a pet rock in my secret Santa. If I can manage to keep this alive then maybe I can eventually graduate to a dog.

I awoke at 5am which was annoying but gave me chance for a morning of reading in bed before meeting my bosses for breakfast. Thankfully, I was able to run and grab an early train back to Shrewsbury rather than waiting for an afternoon train. The journey was surprisingly smooth and I adopted a couple of old people on the way.

I was grateful to have the long journey home to reflect on the past few days. The start of the week was shaky but meeting everybody has been the best thing and even more than that, gaining a better insight into the brilliant organisation that I’m working for. I am beyond humbled that every day when I go to work, I’m doing my little bit to make sure the next child gets fed. I’ve had wobbles over the past few months but after this week, I absolutely know I’m in the right place.

Arrived back in Shrewsbury with a full heart. I can’t believe I get to live in this beautiful place, surrounded by people I love, doing a job that fulfils me.
