Melanie…
Our lovely choir leader. Today some of us in the choir attended her funeral service. So glad we did.
As always, we learnt more about her, that she loved nothing more than a project to manage, had the nick name of Boadicea the warrior Queen and was a much loved part of the Age Exchange family, working with those who lived with dementia. She helped many family carers reconnect with their loved ones through singing together and reminiscing together in a very loving and supportive environment. Melanie had the best sense of humour and “made sure mischief and laughter were encouraged at every opportunity and at the heart of every group.”
That’s also what made each choir session so enjoyable. She worked so well with us getting the very best from everyone. I had only known her for a little over a year. Many of our members had known her for much longer and had been with her throughout her battle with cancer and seen the ups and downs as treatments changed. And still she came to us each week for as long as she could.
Her husband and daughter will be at our concert in two weeks time, and we know they will be proud. Melanie’s battle is over and she is now at peace. We pray for them in their loss.
Another goodbye.
