Standen House and gardens NT

A day full of gratefuls, for friends known who have passed, for friends present and for friends we are reuniting with after Covid and lives going different ways separated us, and that yesterday though difficult, was good. It’s gone round in my head all night and today.

Today was beautiful and so is Standen NT Near East Grinstead. The home of the Beale family and designed by Philip Webb and “ one of the finest examples of Arts & Crafts workmanship with William Morris interiors and decorative art of the period.” I lingered long in each room!

Just one picture, the stairwell decorations. Wonderful! Simple, effective and totally in keeping with the house and period. The Christmas trees were gorgeous too, and our time with friends matched perfectly.

Home in time for a happy evening with our House Group. Twelve of us. Just our two friends in Canada missing. We/I took photos to send them….
