Easy Rider At The Bucket & Spade, Dymchurch

Today turned out to be one of those rare winter days, especially recently, when the sun came out, the sky was blue, I had a day off and the seaside was issuing it's siren call very loudly indeed. Therefore, we decided we needed a go on a proper trip and this time we chose Dymchurch, somewhere we had not been since we were kids.
We weren't sure exactly how to get there but knew it involved a circuitous route through the Romney Marsh. Many of the roads in this region sit above the marsh and have watery ditches on either side so woe betide anyone driving too fast and catching the edge of the tarmac surface and ending up in the water. Luckily, I had Google Maps on my smartphone so we didn't get lost and soon found our way to St Mary's Bay (see first extra) which sits just outside Dymchurch itself. I was unprepared for how beautiful the soft curve of the sandy bay would look like in the glorious sunshine - it was stunning. On the horizon, though, is Dungeness nuclear power station, so that certainly added a frisson to the view!
Once we got to Dymchurch itself we had a lovely walk along the promenade next to the sea wall and passed the funfair (see second extra) which was closed for the duration of the off season before stopping off for a cold pint at, where else, but the Ocean Inn!
Shortly after that it was time to get a bag of chips for lunch and that's when I spotted today's main image. The motorcyclist himself had just popped in to the cafe to buy himself a beverage so I decided to take a quick shot before he came back out again.
