The different view from the bus

I've blipped about my transport options before. I don't drive - I've never even sat meaningfully in a driver's seat or even taken a lesson. Part of this is probably in my genes - none of my grandparents drove (although I only met one) and my father passed his test young, but only took it up properly in his 30s. I've passed that stage, and the bottom line is that despite the superficial appeal of freedom and the open road I don't need to drive.

So despite the occasional walk home (around an hour the last time I did it in heavy snow) it's train (often) or bus (less often). I'm live-blipping (is that a thing?) from my bus journey home. I'm on top deck - size 12 shoes make my descent precarious at best though - and I'm enjoying the view. I like a different perspective. Today was exceptionally busy - counting back, I had around 20 people in my office in a one-hour period on different subjects, and there's a bundle of deadlines, quite apart from my core job. All enjoyable mind you. But taking time out on the top-deck of a bus offers a simple commodity, in three parts. Me time, thinking time, and via my beloved iPhone, doing time (email, Twitter, text, sport updates and of course, Blipfoto). Wouldn't be doing any of it while driving (officer) so while my urge to drive is there, it takes second place to a lifestyle involving a phone and a social, people-transport thing. The view from the bus isn't the Champs Elysses, 5th Avenue or others, but the utility surrounding it, the me, thinking, doing thing, wins every day for me.
