IN REMEMBRANCE
Had a long list of jobs to get on with and have managed to do some of them. As usual however the ones I don't enjoy doing have been pushed to the bottom of the list and didn't get done. Must try harder tomorrow.
Its my brothers 68th birthday today so I sent him a message. I posted his card a few days ago. I will give him his gift ( a bottle of whisky ) when I see him next. We have rather lost touch since my sister in law has been staying in Australia with my niece. She was always the one who arranged our catch ups. Left to our own devices my brother and I haven't got round to it. My sister in law is due to return home later this month but she will probably be busy for a while getting back to her UK life after being in Oz since May. Couple of photos of my little brother in Extras - one as a baby and one as a long haired teenager.
I was struggling for a blip so Ive put together a few things for Remembrance Sunday. The large poppy came from the Tower Of London display.
In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.
