Diary of an Edinburgher

Town trip

A dreich morning, so I was quite happy to stay in and read the Sunday papers. Archie has his morning walk with JR, and Elizabeth was coming for him today, so I didn’t need to bother.

The weather perked up, and it was sunny by mid morning, so once Archie had gone out, I decided to go down town to look for a photo - otherwise I’d sit on the sofa for a whole day again… JR was taking an item back into town later on, but I decided to go while the sun was shining.

We have a good choice of buses in our neighbourhood, so I just got the first bus that arrived, and went down to Princes Street (the other bus would have been the Castle or the Royal Mile). I actually went into a shoe shop, tried on a few as it wasn’t busy and they didn’t have their muzak on loud, as they normally do. But I hate buying shoes - I often get the wrong ones, so I left empty handed.

Down to the Gardens in the sunshine, where I could hear a band tuning up. There was a big Diwali celebration about to start - tents for spectators and tents for food too.

I headed back to catch the rugby, and didn’t have to wait for a bus. I love that.

Good Sunday night Tv - ‘World’s Greatest Train Journeys’ followed by ‘Antiques Roadshow’.

Oh - I nearly forgot - ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ featuring our erstwhile Health Secretary… can’t wait!
