Backblip
Paul came up to my Mums and we al headed off to Stodmarsh Nature Reserve near Canterbury.
We parked in the pub carpark , which was rather wet and muddy. Luckily it was a good path the the David Feast Hide.We quietly creeped in. There were a few other photographers there eagerly waiting for the kingfishers to arrive. Got talking to the chap next to me who goes to the hide nearly everyday. He had some fantastic close up photos of the kingfisher hovering.
As you may have guessed from the blip we only got a fleeting sighting as the female flew past over the reeds.
The swans appeared and started to preen , others arrived and were soon shown off by the others.
Several Gadwall seen, a pretty little duck. Saw a marsh harrier, buzzard and kestrel. A glimpse of two bearded tits and a poor shrew that had three big ticks attached.
We were going to eat in the pub but it was closed on a Tuesday. We found another pub nearby and sat in the conservatory. I had steak this time :)
We drove the coastal road back stopping at Tankerton for an icecream . Great weather for the end of October :)
