On your marks, get set.....
Church this morning some good rousing hymns which I always enjoy. I don't sing enough these days though and I'm definitely losing my upper register. We no longer have a choir which saddens me. It does take a big time commitment though, not just from the singers but from the musicians and choir master too.
At coffee time, we had the left over cakes from yesterday's reception which was a bonus.
I finally got around to putting the fruit to soak for the Christmas cake and making sure that I have the rest of the ingredients so that I can get that baked. I do love to see it all sparkling together. As usual I ignored the recipe and added lots more cherries and peel. If it doesn't fit in the tin I will make something else with the extras.
I made up a soup recipe too. Made a batch of chicken soup in the soup maker by throwing a small chicken drumstick in with some veg and stock for the initial cook. I then took it back out again, stripped off the meat and gave it another 20 mins. Yummy. Important to remember not to blend it until I've removed the bones or it will be crunchy chicken soup! Maybe I should write that down in case somebody else has a go. I think I'm going to like having some tasty creative fun with this soup maker!
We watched another episode of Bloodlands tonight. I am enjoying it.
Just realised that I may have totally ruined the Christmas cake! I've put the fruit to soak in Brandy and it was pre-soaked. Oh no, all that extra Brandy, it could be dangerous! (Hopefully by the time it's had another two or three top ups after it's baked, it will be a very pleasant experience!) Hic!
Thanks for the hearts and stars for Cleo yesterday, she says she deserves them!
