Day 124 of 365 - Whitefriars Friary!

Welcome to day 124 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)

The original photo was taken this morning. It is of the remains of the Whitefriars friary just outside the city centre of Coventry. The Friary founded in 1342 with the backing of Sir John Poultney and was Home to Carmelite friars. The name 'Whitefriars' was used for the friary due to the colour of the friars' habits. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries during King Henry VIII's reign, the ownership passed to John Hales and served as the First King Henry VIII School, Coventry, before the school moved to it's second home in St John's Hospital, Coventry. The building was last used by Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry to house museum records and artifacts.

The Friary is classed as a Grade I listed building. The Friary is number 5 on my list of 19 (Grade I) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App PureShot for iPhone. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.

First of all I used PhotoToaster to edit the image. The edits were made by sharpening the image a little and appying the Lomo filter. Next I used the App PhotoCopier to edit the image. With this app I applied a reproduction of the tone, texture, grain and detail of Monet's Painting 'Alley in the Garden in Giverny' to my image. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Stirred overlay and the Lade Texture.
