Choices

A huge amount of judging going on today. A lot based on political decisions, sacking and appointemt of chancellor, market reaction, reason Jeremy Hunt took the job, and so on.

So it felt appropriate that I spent part of the day picking and preparing quince jelly.

The golden apple or quince is said to have led to the Trojan War. Paris (of Troy) was tasked with deciding which of 3 goddesses should receive the fruit on which the message “for the fairest” was written. He chose Aphrodite as she promised him Helen. His abduction of Helen led to the war.
