A day at the Museum
We met up today with one of my wife’s cousins, one of her sons and his two children. They had come through from the west and we met up at the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street.
After a very enjoyable lunch in the cafe we walked round some of the exhibits. The wildlife hall (pictured) was great and the displays terrific. Slightly surprisingly to me was that what generated most fun was the geology section with shouts of excitement over the rocks. It was perhaps fuelled not just by the magnificence of some of the exhibits but also by that fact that one of their school friends whom they met kept shouting “lava rock” at just about everything!
It was great to see the young ones - and all the their families - enjoying the various halls including the Millennium clock operating is n the hour. Some of us adults had fun too and I discovered that (with my backpack) I nearly weigh as much as a porpoise. Who knew?
In any event it was lovely to catch up after a few years.
