Book of Mormon
Dropped Phin at daycare in the morning as we had tickets to see Book of Mormon at the playhouse. Originally booked for July 2020, it’s been a long time coming round.
Arranged to pick up Katy from school where she was helping at Open Morning and bad traffic meant we didn’t arrive at the St Janes quarter until just after 1.30. We needed to grab some lunch before meeting Michael & Ali who were coming down for the show so it all got a bit stressful!
However we all met up ok after the three of us stuffed some lunch into us and headed to the playhouse to meet K’s friend Bridgit. Managed to grab a drink to take in and we found our seats before the curtain went up.
If you haven’t seen the show (and it’s not to everyone’s taste) it’s rude, crude and really has it in for the Mormon church but the performers sang and danced well and we had a lovely afternoon.
Headed back to the St James for dinner at Pho where we’ve eaten a few times before. Although the food was nice, my fragrant curry was less fragrant and much spicier than usual so it was a little disappointing.
Had a chat with Ali about the impact of Hurricane Ian on Englewood where the wedding is planned to take place on November 2nd. I hadn’t realised the impact was as bad as it appears to be. The restaurant where we were due to have the meal is closed for repairs, power is out in the majority of the town with projections of at least a week before all will be restored. The water company took a direct hit so has no power and there are concerns that the sewage lines will back up. The block of condos where we were due to stay has suffered damaged but we won’t find out till Tuesday if we have somewhere to stay.
Of course us flying in for a wedding isn’t the most important thing for the people who have lost their homes, their livelihoods and sadly in some cases their lives but it is important to Michael and Ali and to all of us.
We’re very much on a wait and see but we may need to make some hard decisions in the coming days.
Backblipped Monday for Saturday
