The Rain Came in Eden

I can't stress how relaxing and fine it has been to be staying here next to the Lost Gardens of Heligan.  We woke after 8 and had a relaxed breakfast of Bacon, Sausage, Egg and Mushrooms cooked in the miracle Ridgemonkey and then as planned we took the lovely 40 minute walk over the hill and down into Mevagisey, one of my favorite little towns, this is probably the 5th or 6th time I have been down here and many good memories mackerel fishing when I was younger - I am hoping to do the same this time, but aware that it is not high season and so less likely to be available.  Anyway, the rain started as we neared the town, but umbrellas came out and we continued to do a bit of shopping and then it was cream tea time - see extra.  The debate is over.  We had wondered whether the jam goes on the scone first as I like to practice or whether the clotted cream is used like butter under the jam.  Well, the experts here informed us that the Cornish always put the clotted cream on top of the jam, whereas the Devonshire mortals do it the other way round.  So I guess I am Cornish at heart.
And again, it is so funny how after everything going wrong on the North Coast, it seems like everything falls into place in another situation.  We had grabbed a couple of Cornish Pasties at a bakery and were all ready to brave the rain on the 40 minute walk back to the campsite when we passed a bus stop and commented that obviously there wouldn't be a bus to our remote campsite.  And then....down the road came a bus with the destination clearly emblazoned....'Gardens of Heligan'.  We had just passed the stop but doubled back as the bus turned round and picked us up to deposit us 20 yds from the entrance to the campsite.  Hallelujah!  Things were really falling into place!  And so we then spent the rest of the day admiring the wet weather and relaxing, even managed to do the Guardian crossword and listened to music, had a light tea and now getting caught up with blip - the rest of the evening may even be spent watching a film or something as we can stream online with the internet also turning out to be the best we have ever encountered in the UK.  Happy Days!
