So lucky!

Today was the first concert of the season of the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. And the first fully live performance since 2020. The orchestra was brilliant. I’m blown away at how good they are considering it’s a mostly volunteer orchestra. With Western Washington University here with its fine music program, and a city filled with art and music loving people, many of whom make music, we are able to have a professional quality group of musicians who are willing to play for the pure joy of it. And we listen the same way.

The highlight of today’s program was the Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 125 by Sergei Prokofiev. It features an amazing cello solo played today by Joshua Roman. I had not heard this work. Wow! Complex, playful, rich and a tour de force for the cellist. Fantastic!

After we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant, Panda Palace, for dinner. Perfect way to enjoy a Sunday
