Seasons change

With the rest of the nation, I watched the funeral of Queen Elizabeth today. Grace come over and we watched the Westminster service together. I was expecting to feel sad but there's something more celebratory than sad when someone dies at an old age having led a full life and surrounded by beloved family. We watched a bit of the procession which was both sober and utterly mesmerising in it's precision.

Ali came over and we had a nice break from the preceedings to run up Rodney's Pillar. It was busy up there and had that Boxing Day lets-get-out-with-the-family kind of vibe. I think once people had seen the funeral everyone was a bit unsure of what to do with their day - unusual to have a Bank Holiday with not a single pub or shop open!

Back in time to watch the service from Windsor which I found much more moving. Kirsty Young's emotional monologue followed by the montage from the day finally got me.
