Homework

But not as I remember it! I used to find the prospect of more work at home after working all day at school a very low priority indeed!

Today when we picked up the boys from school their only topic of conversation was their homework! The nine year old’s teacher and the teacher of the parallel class had started an interclass contest using an online times table app. The contest, or “battle”, as the children called it closed at 5pm and resumed at 8am tomorrow. I have never seen such genuine enthusiasm for numeracy! Their reading was also done too.

Further to my commentary yesterday I was not surprised to read today that JL Q1 results were disappointing. We also went to the supermarket where the food prices continue to rise.

Our grandchildren’s generation are going to need all those numeracy skills to keep abreast of our increasing national debt.
