King Charles The Third

How strange that sounds - and will do for some time. I don’t feel particularly strongly about the Monarchy, though I’d much rather have a monarch than a president, but I was very impressed by our new King’s simply expressed and heartfelt first address to the nation this evening. His quote from Hamlet at the end I found particularly moving.

Leaving aside the general strangeness of the day, it’s been an odd one all round. All the fitments and fittings for our new en-suite bathroom were meant to be delivered between 7 and 11 this morning so we were up early just in case. Of course, they didn’t arrive until gone noon.

The delivery driver, who had to unload a lot of heavy items by himself, assured us that was the lot but, just as we were heading out this afternoon, another van arrived with more boxes. We can’t move for cardboard boxes now.

Our friends T&R called in for coffee, cakes and a chat this morning. 

A suitably gloomy, rainy day to match the somber  mood.
